Normally I shy away from the political here, it’s so volatile, but I’ve wondered since early November if our new president would change things right away, since he authored and co-sponsored Senate Bill 2433, the Global Poverty Act of 2007. It was an expensive bill, intended to eliminate extreme poverty in the world.

It’s been estimated our country will spend $150,000,000.00 on today’s Inauguration.

I couldn’t help but wonder: have previous Presidents scaled back inaugural festivities in Washington?  It seems some have:
.
Thomas Jefferson eschewed much of the inaugural pomp and circumstance in 1801 and walked to the Capitol in casual clothing for his swearing in.

During World War I, President Wilson did not have any parties at his 1917 inaugural.

During World War II President Roosevelt held his 1945 inaugural at the White House, making a short speech and serving guests cold chicken salad and plain pound cake, there were no inaugural balls, no parades.

President Obama

$150,000,000.00±  the first day of  our new administration.
I can’t criticize, I’m not in a good position to do that.
But I can notice.
And it looks like change has indeed arrived.
