I’m leading a concert this afternoon.
But you can’t hear it.
There’s a praise team at the front of the platform, passionate singers, two to my left, two to my right. The rhythm section is compact and very precise.  “Tight” they’d say, “Comes from working together a lot.”

He Is So Great…

Okay, folks, I’m turning to you for help in filling in some blanks in a song I’ve been singing the last couple of days;  it’ll help if you’re over forty, and like traditional sacred music.      (Well it will!)

When a teacher has something special to say to the class, he or she waits until all eyes are up front; even insists that it be so before the news or instruction is delivered.
When a parent wants to be sure he hears and understands, little Timmy finds his hands cradled in strong, gentle hands [...]

We’re careful about copyrights in church music – at least we should be. I tell churches often:
Licensing and royalties we can budget for.
Fines we never do.
(Yes, that’s an original. Have I copyrighted it? No. Help yourself if you want.)
Garrison Keillor’s Writer’s Almanac had [...]
