This poem has been in my poem book (a collection of my own writings and my favorites) for years. I received this poem from my secret prayer pal when I was in college and she wrote it for me. I thought I would share it with you today to encourage you.
Have you ever pulled the petals from a flower
Saying to yourself, “He loves me, he loves me not.”
And the last petal said “Not”?
It’s a foolish little game
And I always feel rather bad
When the last petal ends with “not”!
With God it never ends that way.
Every petal says to me,
“He loves me, He loves me!”
God’s love is always,
And forever and NOW
But never “not!”

I wish that I could write poetry. I never could seem to master it, but have always appreciated how complex it is.
“It’s never that way.” Amen!

Sometimes poetry comes and sometimes it doesn’t. Poetry that rhymes is hardest, and I know what you mean about not being able to master it. It certainly isn’t easy.
Like you … I am just so glad that God always loves us! Thanks for your comment!

Nice poem but still, through our actions, we don’t do justice to God’s love and mercy at all.
God’s message is clear and concise, but when it comes to obeying Him and His instructions, we runaway and we obey our desires.
May God guide us and make it easy on all of us, ameen.
